The two main offices at USC that support veterans will be the Veterans Certification Office and the Transfer Success & Veteran Student Program.
Veterans Certification workplace: The goal of this working workplace would be to help initiate and process your education benefits, namely the GI Bill and Yellow Ribbon Program. Within the GI Bill programs is the Post-9/11 GI Bill, which gives a maximum of $19,198.31 toward tuition and mandatory charges. Currently, USC sponsors 20 undergraduate veterans through YR, and many graduate programs participate in the program as well, providing 83 YR spots to graduate students. Transfer Success & Veteran Student Program: The program that is veteran run by Assistant Director Syreeta Greene, is the ‘one-stop shop for information and resources’ excluding the official certification procedure. This system puts on many events throughout the for veteran students, including a Fall luau, friends and family tailgate, and a Veteran’s Day celebration year. Furthermore, the USC Veterans Association can be an active student organization on campus, which in accordance with Ms. Greene, ‘acts being a help network also a social and expert system for our veteran students.’

Every year about 60% of our first-year applicants apply for the December 1st merit-based scholarship deadline. We receive over 47,000 applications so it’s an extremely competitive process. These students are achieving at the level that is highest across the board. We award the Trustee scholarship that is full-tuition Presidential half-tuition scholarship, and the one-quarter tuition Deans scholarship. More often than not, yes! (There are exceptions for this; start to see the reaction to the following question). The merit-based scholarships administered by any office of Admission just require submission regarding the Common Application and USC Writing Supplement for consideration. We are searching for all types of pupils. There is not a key algorithm that determines whether a student is worthy of a scholarship. We assess everything within the application, considering both qualitative and factors that are quantitative. We additionally weigh in fields of interests, special circumstances and backgrounds that are unique.
‘When do we find out if I am being awarded a scholarship?’
For those applicants that are first-year applied by December 1st, notifications would be released by the start of February 2014. Consideration for many scholarships requires a trip to campus for an interview that is in-person. Students who do not receive a scholarship will remain considered for regular admission. All decisions are going to be mailed by 1, 2014 april.
‘What about educational funding? Is that just like scholarships?’
No. A scholarship is based on a student’s merit while financial aid is predicated on students’s need. Financial aid will comprise of college and grants that are federal work study and loans.
